Considered one of the most recognized and accomplished fishermen in Florida and beyond, Robert S. Collins Jr. has consistently fished the waters of Naples, Islamorada, and the Bahamas for over forty years. While Collins’ has been a fishing guide and marina manager, his name is most known to the world of fishing, however, because of his extensive participation and success in professional tournaments. Fishing 12-15 inshore and offshore tournaments each year, he has won nearly 100 awards in the last 18 years. Some of the most commendable of such awards include the IGFA Inshore World Championship for Overall Release in 2004 and Grand Champion Angler in 2005, 2007, and 2008. Collins’ wide-ranging angling skill also allowed him to record double slams for all five eligible species in this tournament in 2005 and 2007. He is the only angler to ever achieve such a feat. A continual participant in the IGFA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, he placed 9th out of over 60 teams in 2007 and won the tournament in 2008. He is the only angler to ever win the IGFA Inshore and Offshore Championships, actually accomplishing this in the same year. Robert Collins’ commitment to scouting, analyzing conditions, outworking his opponents, and experimenting with different tackle and techniques ensures his permanent place in angling history.
